Some funky songs with Sam Pikesley..

The Paradox. Originally recorded as a brash Mudhoney style track, and now revised into a more "Air" style relaxed vibe. (perhaps as I finally got the Vocoder working :0) ) Work is in progress on version 3, which may change direction again..

Djembe Song. Wonderfully detailed song with many, many, parts... amazing how much better it sounds now iut's been cut into several loops ! The sound of Massive Attack somehow filtered into this. Amazingly the whole song evolved around the Djembe loop..

Dub Keys. A track that surprised me in taking a dub direction... but when it works, it works ! Yep, those are Sam's carkeys on the introduction.. and Sam on Uke and Melodica as well as drums and percussion. :0) nice.

Out Of Here In 5 Minutes. One of our earliest tracks, inspired by the sound of the Meters. Al provides the funky bass on this one...

Some ideas stuff that just had to be done alone..

Hill Street. A Steely Dan moment, inspired by the jazziness of the main guitar riff.. i absolutely love this track, it has one of those melodies that sticks in your head for days and days. You can tell I was learning the drum ruffs at the time, lots of snare fills on this one :0) Sounds a bit underproduced in retrospect, but hey, that's the learning experience.. 26Feb06

WTF. Had a nightmare getting the new PC working in Janurary, and this "what the *** is going on! " title was the first decent track out of protools. Starting with the keys, each take is totally improvised, I've no idea of the chords or structure.. amazingly it came together into a really quite interesting, relaxed, melodic piece. 6Feb06

Just started doing some stuff again with with Mark Halloran (from "Meanwhile Back In Communist Russia" ), as we'd previous jammed in "The Sun Was Hot And I Felt Like Killing Something"

Uke Song. Perhaps we could record an Aphex Twin style song using only a Uke? Myself and Mark took turns on rhythmn / lead (??) Uke parts, played through an astounding number of delay and reverb effects.. the resulting loops make the core of this pleasingly melodic yet surprising piece.
